LEXINGTON – After a long statewide search, Lexington Senior High has a new Activities Director. Alan Frank, currently the principal of Hay Springs High School, has been selected to take over the duties of current AD Kyle Hoehner next fall.
Frank is originally from Harvard and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Secondary Education. He received his masters in Secondary Education Administration in 2003 from Chadron State College.
Frank will be familiar with Class B sports, as he has had his fair share of experience coaching. Frank was an Assistant basketball coach for Norris High School from 1999-2000. In 2000, he became and assistant football coach at Gering High School and was also and assistant basketball coach.
Frank has AD experience, previously as the AD for Minatare High School. Before becoming the principal at Hay Springs, Frank was the head football coach for Guernsey-Sunrise High School in Guernsey, Wyo. As the head coach, he led Guernsey-Sunrise High School to a 1A football state championship in 2006, along with a runner-up finish in 2007.
Frank has been awarded with numerous honors, including 2006 Scottsbluff Star-Herald Football Coach of the Year and the 2006 Wyoming Coaches Association Class 1A Coach of the Year.
“This is my dream job,” Frank said. “Getting a nice feel of the community and being around great people was probably a huge draw to the town. This is where I would like to make my home and I feel very comfortable there.”
Frank will finish his tenure as the Principal at Hay Springs before taking off for Lexington.
Hoehner will take over as principal of LHS starting in the fall, after Dave Gordon announced his retirement at the beginning of the year.
The new AD looks forward to learning from Hoehner.
“I’m following a living legend,” Frank said. “Kyle has done an excellent job. My goal is definitely to maintain what he has done. I have high expectations, I’m very competitive. I think it’s our responsibilty as an Activities Director to instill a lot of character and a lot of work ethic in these kids.”
Frank has already gotten a look at the facilities that LHS has to offer, which Frank said is a huge drawing point.
“Lexington has arguably the best facilities in the state of Nebraska,” he said. “The gym and the existing facilites are top notch, along with new band and choir rooms. I’m very excited.”
Frank will make his home in Lexington with his wife Andrea, and two daughters Keelin, 6, and Julia, 3.
